Heritage Open Days - 6 Towns Tour
From September 10th to 14th 2009 UVNS teamed up with Stoke on Trent City Council and the Potteries Heritage Society to provide some wonderful free events, guided tours and walks that brought to life our local history and culture.
The ‘Six Towns Tours’ were free-guided tours of the six individual towns that make up Stoke on Trent. The tours were led by local heritage specialists and explored and focussed on the heritage, culture, details and changes in our built environment.
Heritage Open Days is a nationwide event supported by English Heritage celebrating England’s heritage and culture and is England’s part of European Heritage Days in which 49 countries now participate.
“Heritage Open Days is about people and places; it celebrates community and reflects the importance of the built environment in our lives and to our quality of life. It is organised by local people who dedicate their spare time to opening properties and staging activities, and it is their knowledge and enthusiasm that makes Heritage Open Days happen”
