Creative Engagement
Visioning Longton - 'I Love Longton'
Aiming to facilitate community participation in the public realm and built environment in Longton Town Centre , 'Visioning Longton' also affectionately known as "I Love Longton" is using a range of creative techniques for community involvement to focus on the key issues affecting the town, with a view to identifying a shared vision for the future.
The project has been working since September 2007 with a range of key stakeholders; actively consulting about the issues facing the town and collecting data to inform the context of the visioning process. Key stakeholders including children, young people, elders, community agencies and local business and the project has benefitted by working closely with the Area Implementation Teams.
Open Space Technology
During Phase 1 of the Visioning Longton exercise much of the consultation with the people of Longton was carried out using Open Space Technology. OST is a form of communicating in a group where the agenda is set by the participants and the interaction they have between each other. Watch clips of the OST consultation and other interviews with Longtonians Click on the link in the right hand column for the video results of the day.
Google Mapping Project
To see what was behind the closed doors of Longton we set out to map all of the businesses, services and amenities of the town as both a resource and a guide to give direction moving forward with the project. This is an ongoing consultation where any business or service can add themselves to the maps. Contact janette.mcskimming@uvns.org or jackson.cummings@uvns.org with your details or call (01782) 575321. To view the google maps please click the link to the right.
