‘The Sustainable School’Craig White of Architects White Design and Catriona Stewart Head teacher of Kingsmead Primary School, Cheshire. A topical lecture about the award winning school Kingsmead primary school in Mid Cheshire. It is an exemplar of sustainable design and construction. This ethos informs every aspect of the design from its orientation on the site, to the selection of natural and local materials, use of natural ventilation and day-lighting and the landscape concept. Each classroom has an interrupted view to green space. The school was opened in September 2004 and it was hoped that it would be used as the blueprint for all schools within Cheshire. The Kingsmead School project was a partnership between Cheshire County Council, builder Willmott Dixon and architect White Design. Click here for a PDF copy of Craigs Presentation.
